R. Laing Manufacturing is a small, minority-owned company specializing in precision machined parts, supporting both aerospace, golf and other commercial businesses.
The company was started in 1985 when owner, Roy Laing Flores, decided to open his own machine shop after working as a machinist for 11 years.
He was first introduced to machine shop manufacturing as a student trainee at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX. He was awarded a scholarship which enabled him to continue his education at St. Phillips College in San Antonio, Tx.
From 1974 to 1985, Roy worked at machine shops in San Antonio and Houston, Tx. After returning to San Antonio, Roy decided to start his own business. He began manufacturing for the Department of Defense at Kelly AFB, machining various aircraft parts and ground equipment.
In time his work was recognized and he began manufacturing for other related aerospace companies such as General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin. Today he continues to support the aerospace industry, commercial industries as well as providing certified welding services with a high degree of dimensional precision.
Roy has also designed and manufactures golf loft & lie calibration gauges that support club makers, golf professionals, hobbyists, and members of the PGA. MR3 Golf Designs sells and supports the golf industry all over the world.
